About the Gift Centre
The Gift Centre has been in our family for 3 generations, and is the oldest shop in Queenstown. We started selling paua shell jewellery in 1976, just as inbound tourism to New Zealand was starting to develop, and have been doing so ever since.
Over the years we added New Zealand pounamu jade carvings, and Māori influenced artworks, developing deep connections with master carvers around NZ.
These connections, built up over 40 years, allow us to offer you one of the best selections of New Zealand pounamu jade anywhere in the world. Open 7 days a week, 364 days a year (We close on Christmas Day), our friendly staff are always available to help you find exactly what you are looking for.

FAMILY
The gift centre is a family owned and operated business. Opened by Harry and Betty Caldwell in 1976, it was then passed on to their daughter Joy and her family when they retired in 1985. In 2007 Joy sold it to her brother Ian, and his son Michael, who have been running it ever since. We take pride in being the longest running business in Queenstown, and in the quality of our stock. Pride in our history makes us strive every day to satisfy you, our customers.
